Why We Need Advanced Technology
At our Lexington TMJ and Sleep Dentistry Center, we ensure each patient feels comfortable when receiving treatment. We know patients won’t use their specific TMJ, sleep apnea, or snoring treatment if it’s uncomfortable or causes even the slightest discomfort.
In order to deliver satisfying results that relieve our patients’ pain and restore their sleep, Dr. Takacs works with state-of-the-art technology that helps treat each unique condition. Explore the different sleep technology used by our team that allows you to receive an efficient and effective solution.
The George Gauge™
The George Gauge bite registration and mandibular repositioning device was first developed over 20 years ago by orthodontist Peter T. George, DDS, who specialized in sleep breathing disorders. At our Lexington office, Dr. Takacs uses the George Gauge as an effective method of measuring patients’ bites for an oral appliance.
The George Gauge helps eliminate any guessing when creating an oral appliance because it provides exact results. Our patients feel the utmost comfort throughout this treatment process because of the accuracy it provides to Dr. Takacs.
Once you’ve been properly fitted for an oral appliance, you’ll be able to experience its easy use, convenience, and successful outcome as you sleep soundly through the entire night.
The T-Scan™ Computerized Bite Analysis
We also use the Tekscan to accurately identify the early stages of TMJ and analyze the pressure of your bite. Also known as T-Scan, this digital software helps Dr. Takacs reveal the level and timing of force on patients’ teeth and the occlusal stability of the overall bite.
Using T-Scan, it allows Dr. Takacs to:
- Improve efficiency by reducing repeat visits
- Educate patients on the root of their pain
- Quickly eliminate any destructive forces
- Reduce muscle stress on patients’ teeth
- Fit TMJ appliances properly at their first appointment
